reception

Paul Johannes Baumgartner summarizes one of Sinek's central theses: “Less successful people, according to Sinek, communicate from the outer to the inner circle. You start with the what and move on to the how to the why. Enthusiastic and thus successful people choose exactly the other way. ” Veit Etzold comments on Sinek's thesis:“ The first question is sometimes very quick and clear, but sometimes it is infinitely difficult to answer. It's the question of 'why?'. ”Simon Sinek put this down to a formula that made him one of the most cited TED Talks speakers of all: 'Start with why!' That also became the title of his world bestseller.

“People don't buy what you do. They buy why you do it. "

“People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do something. "

His book has been translated into numerous languages, including Chinese.

Lex Sisney criticizes that from a business point of view the “who” (“who”) should be put before the why, because a company has to serve the customer or find out which problem or need is met. Otherwise there is a risk of being trapped in your own views and not meeting the needs of the market or customer. He also claims that Simon Sinek also sees this as a first step or links it to the why.
