Simon Sorg
Simon Sorg (* 1719 ; † December 3, 1792, probably in Regensburg ) was a Bavarian sculptor of the Rococo and Early Classicism .
biography
Simon Sorg worked as a sculptor in Regensburg and the surrounding area. From 1774 he appears as court sculptor for the Princes Thurn and Taxis. As with other sculptors and visual artists in Bavaria, the work of Simon Sorg shows the long survival of the popular rococo and a delayed reception of the new classical style ideals.
