Simon Toldam Rosengren (* 1979 ) is a Danish jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Live and act

Toldam founded his first trio at the age of nine. He became internationally known first in the trio of Han Bennink (together with Joachim Badenhorst ) and with sects . In 2007 he performed at the JazzFest Berlin with his stringed band Prügelknabe . He continued to submit four albums with his own compositions with his trio; the album Omhu won a Danish Music Award in 2019 as “best jazz album of the year” . The album of his sextet Stork also received international acclaim. Together with Anders Bach Pedersen, Qarin Wikström and Stephan Sieben, he formed the Danish-Swedish quartet Kostcirkeln , which has released three albums since 2007. He also works with Peter Bruun and Torben Snekkestad in the Paris Peacock Trio and in another trio with the Swedish bassist Georg Riedel and the woodwind player Nils Berg.

He has also performed with Eivind Aarset , Marilyn Mazur (for example in a trio with Laura Toxværd), Axel Dörner , Yasuhiro Yoshigaki , Chris Speed , Marc Ducret , Evan Parker , Peter Brötzmann , Nils Petter Molvær , Tristan Honsinger , Dave Douglas , Jakob Bro and Efterklang on. In 2015 he received a three-year work grant from the Statens Kunstfond .
