Simon Vincent

Simon Vincent (* 1967 in London ) is a British pianist , composer , music publisher and performer.

Life

Vincent studied New Music and Electroacoustic Music from 1986 with Denis Smalley at the University of East Anglia . He finished his studies with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) In 1990 and a Master of Music in 1993. He later attended composition seminars with Karlheinz Stockhausen in Kürten.

He was already with the radio band Forehead in electroacoustic music in Zapruda trio with Sten-Olof Hellstrom and John E. Bowers , with VHF to Simon H. Fell and Graham Halliwell , with the hip-hop group Def Tex , the Jazz -Musicians Art Farmer and Pete Jacobson , on stage in a drum and bass trio with Pete Kubryk-Townsend and Russ Morgan and as a DJ with LTJ Bukem , Mr. Scruff , Carl Craig , Stacey Pullen , Jazzanova and Rainer Trüby .

In 1997 he was the founder of the independent label Visionofsound in London.

He received composition commissions a. a. by the Dorothea Hare Foundation ( Norwich ), the Colin Poole Dance Company (London) and Shelley Fox at London Fashion Week. His compositions were u. a. premiered at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival .

He is currently working on a new piece for the Ensemble Sortisatio .

Vincent gave guest lectures at the City University of London from 2000 to 2003, during the International Bartók Seminar and Festival in Szombathely (Hungary), at the Universidad Iberoamericana and at the Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras (Mexico), at the Bahcesehir University in Istanbul and the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

He lives in Lincoln, England.
