Simon Züger (born June 4, 1981 in Uznach ) is a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract for HC Ceresio in the first division since 2010 .

Career

The trained surveyor spent his youth with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. From 1997 to 1999 the goalkeeper in the squad of the first team was from the National League A. He then moved to the ZSC Lions , the first two seasons spent there but exclusively in the partner team in the GCK Lions of the National League B . In the 2000/01 season he sat in twelve games of the ZSC Lions on the bench, but was not used. For this reason he returned to the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. In these he was also only used sporadically, so that he in Ticino at HC Ambrì-Piottasigned. After four seasons with Ambri, in which he was regularly between the posts, he moved to HC Lugano . When the club management signed David Aebischer , Züger was superfluous and was loaned to the EHC Basel . At the end of the 2008/09 season , the EHC was relegated to National League B and the goalkeeper left the club in order to be signed by his former club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers.

Züger has been playing for HC Ceresio in the first division since the 2010/11 season .

International

For the Swiss junior national team , Züger took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2000 , in which he finished sixth with his team.
