The Simona AG (proper spelling: SIMONA AG) is a Rhineland-Palatinate Kirn -based medium-sized companies in the plastics industry . The company develops and produces semi-finished plastic products , pipe and molded parts as well as finished parts. Semi-finished plastic products include plates, rods, profiles and welding wires. Due to their high resistance to aggressive chemicals, they are mainly used in chemical apparatus and plant construction. But the company also produces semi-finished plastic products for the automotive industry , mechanical engineering, life science , building construction and advertising sectors .

Simona AG is listed on the stock exchange and in the General Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange .

history

Today's company emerged from the leather factory "Carl Simon Söhne" founded in Kirn in 1857 . At the beginning of the 20th century, the company "Carl Simon Söhne" achieved international reach. After the end of the Second World War, the leather industry increasingly lost its importance. New business fields were found with plastics production. 50 years later, more than 1200 people were employed in Kirn and in foreign branches.

The first attempts to produce plastic began in 1956, and in 1965 sales of plastic products exceeded that of leather for the first time. Leather production was stopped in 1973. The company name Simona was introduced in 1965; In 1988 the GmbH became today's stock corporation . In 2007 the company celebrated its 150th anniversary.

In 2009 a production facility in Litvinov / Czech Republic went into full operation, which was certified in 2010 according to the quality and environmental management system. In the same year, another plant was opened in Jiangmen (China).

In 2011 a subsidiary was founded in Russia. In 2012, an energy management system was introduced and certified in accordance with international standards. In 2013 Simona AG received the Top 100 Innovator Award.

2014 took place the acquisition of the two US companies Laminations Inc. and Boltaron Performance Products .

In 2015 the new technology center was opened in Kirn.

On August 1, 2018, was carried out acquisition of the US company's Premier Material Concepts, LLC (PMC).
