Simone Pasqua
Simone Pasqua (born November 17, 1492 in Taggia near Genoa , † September 4, 1565 in Rome ), also called Simone Pasqua di Negro , Simone de Nigro Pasca , Simeone dei Nigeri or Simeone dei Nigris , was a cardinal of the Roman Church and personal physician of Pope Pius IV.
Life
Initially a Genoese cleric and ambassador of the Holy See in the Republic of Genoa , Pasqua studied medicine and theology. He was appointed Bishop of Luni and Sarzana on February 14, 1561 . On March 12, 1565, Pasqua was created by Pope Pius IV as cardinal priest of Santa Sabina . He was also the personal physician of the Pope, whom he had known from childhood.
Simone Pasqua took part in the Council of Trento from 1562–1563, he reached the city on December 1, 1561. On September 4, 1565 he moved to the titular church of San Pancrazio .
He died in Rome and was buried in his titular church. His bones were later transferred to Genoa and buried there in the family crypt in the Franciscan church of Santa Maria della Pace .
