Sin Da-woon ( kor. 신 다운 ; born March 5, 1993 in Seoul ) is a South Korean short tracker .
Career
Sin started the World Cup for the first time in October 2011 in Salt Lake City and finished sixth in the 1500 m. In the further course of the season he won in Moscow over 1500 m and second place with the relay and in Dordrecht second place over 1500 m and third place with the relay. He also won his first World Cup victory with the relay in Saguenay and came second in the 1500 m World Cup at the end of the season. At the season highlight, the 2012 World Championships in Shanghai , he won the 1500 m, 3000 m and the bronze medal with the relay. In the following season, he won five World Cup wins with the relay. Over 1500 he came second twice in Nagoya and ran first over 1500 m in Dresden for the first time. He finally achieved third place in the World Cup over 1500 m. At the 2013 World Championships in Debrecen he won the silver medal over 3000 m and the gold medal over 1000 m, 1500 m and in all-around. In the 2013/14 season he finished second at the World Cup in Shanghai and third in the relay in Kolomna . In the 1500 m World Cup, he came eighth with three top ten placements. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he was disqualified in the A final over 1000 m, third in the B final over 1500 m and second in the B final with the 5000 m relay, which meant seventh place. In March 2014, he won the silver medal with the relay at the World Championships in Montreal .
At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Sin won his second World Cup individual victory in Salt Lake City over 1500 m. In the further course of the season he won seven times, three times over 1500 m and twice over 1000 m and with the relay. In addition, he achieved twice the second and twice the third place and thus reached the third place in the World Cup over 1000 m and first place in the World Cup over 1500 m. His best results at the 2015 World Championships in Moscow were sixth place over 1000 m and fourth place with the relay. In the 2016/17 season he finished third in Calgary and Shanghai . In the World Cup over 1500 m he came in eighth place with four placements in the top ten. In February 2017, he won the 1000 m and the silver medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Sapporo . At the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam , he became world champion over 1500 m.
