A ship is to be transported by land in the Patagonian wasteland. For this reason, the surveyor Mario quartered in the village of San Lorenzo . He examines the surrounding streets with regard to their suitability for the project. The residents see a possible expansion of the street as an opportunity for an economic upswing in their place and watch the surveyor's work expectantly.

During his stay, Mario gets to know the different villagers and their peculiarities: Gloria, who is bound several times, the mayor, the village elder, an Indian in search of her missing father, the seedy hacienda owner with his 13-year-old wife and a young homosexual.
