Sing Buri ( Thai สิงห์บุรี , pronunciation: [ sĭŋ bùriː ]) is the capital of the district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Sing Buri and the province of Sing Buri in the central region of Thailand .
etymology
The name comes from Sanskrit सिंह ( siṃhá , "lion") and पुर ( pura , "city").
geography
Sing Buri is located on the banks of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya ( Chao Phraya River ) in the middle of the fertile central plain. The distance to the capital Bangkok is about 140 kilometers.
history
The city of Sing Buri dates back to a settlement of the Dvaravati period and is one of the oldest cities in Thailand.

Attractions
- Wat Na Phrathat ( วัด หน้า พระ ธาตุ , formerly Wat Hua Mueang) - Buddhist temple complex ( Wat ) , which houses relics of the Buddha and an old prang from the heyday of the Khmer .
- Wat Sawang Arom ( วัด สว่างอารมณ์ ) - forms a center of the craft for Buddha statues and exhibits the largest collection of traditional shadow play figures.
