Sing Sing Thanksgiving , also Sing Sing, Ossining, 1972. BB King, Joan Baez, live , or finally BB King & Joan Baez. In concert at Sing Sing Prison, 1972 is a concert recording and the result of a one-year film workshop, brought to life by the two film people David Hoffmann and Harry Wiland . They lived near a prison, popularly called Sing Sing , in the small town of Ossining , New York State .

This film project was accompanied by all sorts of difficulties. There were problems with the equipment, the attitude of the prison administration and the inmates. But with a group of twelve prisoners, a Thanksgiving concert was organized to end the project. The concert was to be planned and filmed by the project managers, and the inmates were responsible for the process. Of the many artists invited, only Joan Baez , BB King , The Voices of East Harlem and comedian Jimmy Walker had accepted .

The contents of the film are the concert preparations, interviews with prisoners, the former director, guards and finally the concert itself. In the concert recordings, film material that was recorded in Sing Sing is repeatedly faded in.

The Voices of East Harlem sing in a mixture of funk and gospel of freedom and equality, Joan Baez of abolishing prisons. In her songs she appealed for understanding for those who got off the beaten track. BB King made the audience laugh with his charming lyrics and delighted with his outstanding guitar playing.
