The Sinnamary is a river in France that runs in the overseas department of French Guiana in the French Guiana region of the same name . It rises in the heart of the Guyana National Park (French: Parc amazonien de Guyane ), in the municipality of Saint-Élie , drains generally in a northerly direction, flows through the approximately 350 km² reservoir of the Petit-Saut Dam (French: Retenue du Barrage de Petit Saut ) and after 290 kilometers it flows into the Atlantic Ocean at the Pointe des Palétuviers , in the municipality of Sinnamary , in the Anse Canceler bay . Below the village of Sinnamary , the river is already exposed to the tides and forms an estuary about 10 kilometers long .
