Sirius is an instrumental piece by the British progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project . It was released in 1982 as part of the album Eye in the Sky .

Publications

On the album , Sirius is the opening track that merges seamlessly into the title track . As with many of the band's previous records, it can be seen as an instrumental intro. The two songs are usually performed live one after the other, including the live recordings Live (1994), Eye 2 Eye: Live in Madrid (2010), LiveSpan (2013) and Live in Colombia (2016).

The 2007 extended re-release of Eye in the Sky contains a raw sounding demo version of Sirius .

Sirius is extremely popular at sporting events in the United States. The song is still associated with the Chicago Bulls , where it accompanied the initial line-up (including Michael Jordan ) before the games during their heyday in the 1990s . In the German basketball league, the piece is always played when the players of the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig arrive, the Telekom Baskets Bonn use it as an intro. The German football clubs SV Werder Bremen , SV Darmstadt 98 , Eintracht Frankfurt , VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg also use or used the piece as background music for game lineups or when the teams appear. It was also used as an introductory anthem for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Iowa State Cyclones, the Detroit Lions (NFL), legendary professional wrestling Ricky Steamboat and during the 2007/08 Premier League by the English soccer team Manchester City . Sirius was also played in the stadiums between the playing of the national anthems and kick-off during the 2012 European Football Championship .

A version of Sirius was used in the 2006 film Beer Festival . Likewise, the soccer arcade game Super High Impact from the early 1990s featured a version of Sirius .
