Sironj ( Hindi सिरोंज ) is a city ( Nagar Palika Parishad ) in the Vidisha district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh .
Sironj is about 65 km northwest of Vidisha and 97 km northeast of Bhopal , the capital of Madhya Pradesh, to which there are road and bus connections.
The nearest railway station is in Ganj Basoda (code BAQ), about 40 km southeast of Sironj.
According to the 2011 census, Sironj had around 52,000 inhabitants, of which a little less than half were illiterate .
