Sisters of Saint Joseph
There are several Catholic women's orders under the name Sisters of Saint Joseph , all of which ultimately go back to a foundation of Pére Médaille in Le Puy , France .
The religious family
All in all, after St. Joseph named Order around 14,000 members worldwide, including 7,000 in the United States and about 2,000 in France.
In January 2006 seven of these independent congregations in the USA merged to form a congregation of St. Joseph . This congregation now has a total of around 890 members. These seven congregations are:
- Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth, MI
- Sisters of St. Joseph of Cleveland, OH
- Sisters of St. Joseph of LaGrange, IL
- Sisters of St. Joseph of Medal (in Louisiana, Ohio and Minnesota)
- Sisters of St. Joseph of Tipton, IN
- Sisters of St. Joseph of Wichita, KS
- Sisters of St. Joseph of Wheeling, WV
This congregation in turn belongs to the Federation of Sisters of Saint Joseph , a loose association of the North American congregations , with the following independent congregations:

a community which was founded in Philadelphia ( USA ) in 1847 and whose members are active in nursing and teaching .

Sisters of Saint Joseph of La Grange
a community in the USA, which was founded in 1899 by 6 sisters. Having their roots in France , they are still active in nursing, school and other social professions to this day.

Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester
a community with over 350 members, whose mother house is in Rochester near New York (USA). You are mainly engaged in nursing.

Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet
a community founded in France in 1650 by Jean Pierre Medaille SJ. As Catholic nuns, their members are mainly active in nursing, schools and children's homes . In addition to the United States, the Fellowship operates in Uganda , Chile , Japan and Peru .

Sisters of Saint Joseph the Worker
a community whose mother house in Walton ( Kentucky is). The sisters are active in nursing and education .
