The Sitno is the highest mountain of the Schemnitz Mountains with 1009 m nm and is located in the protected landscape area Štiavnické vrchy , in the municipality of Ilija . Steep andesite rock faces surround the summit plateau on three sides. In the summit area there is a lookout point, a mountain hut (Chata Andreja Kmeťa) and a transmitter.
In the Middle Ages, which was Castle Sitno built to the access roads to mineral deposits in and around Banská Štiavnica to protect. The castle has been in ruins since the early 18th century.
The mountain can be reached from Lake Počúvadlo through a nature trail (green and blue markings), from Ilija through a hiking trail (green markings) or from Prenčov through a blue hiking trail.
