Six (noble family)
The family Six , Six van Hillegom and Six van Oterleek , were one of the politically and culturally most important Amsterdam families from the Golden Age . Originally the family lived in the southern Netherlands , only to move to Amsterdam when Antwerp fell in 1585. Jan (II) Six bought the glory Hillegom , so the name of this rule found its way into that of the family. Some family members were painted by Rembrandt van Rijn , Gerard ter Borch and Govaert Flinck . In 1815, the family with the nobility title Jonkheer was introduced into the newer Dutch nobility, and in 1820 it was finally given the noble title of baron .
