Sixt Riederer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sixt Riederer († before March 1449) was a bailiff and councilor to Duke Ludwig VII of Bavaria-Ingolstadt , who was sent several times on diplomatic missions by him.

Riederer belonged to the noble family of Rieder von Paar , who came from the Donauried . In 1431 he was recorded as a caretaker and district judge in Aichach , which had belonged to the Bavarian duchy of Bavaria-Ingolstadt since the state was divided in 1392 . The following year he became a Mautner in Schärding , which had been passed to Bavaria-Ingolstadt by the Pressburg arbitration award of 1429.

When the conflict between Ludwig VII. And his son Ludwig VIII. Escalated, the old Duke entrusted Riederer with the management of embassies to King Friedrich III. In 1440 alone, Riederer traveled to Vienna five times. The Neuburg copy books contain several letters in which the Duke gives him instructions and repeatedly expresses his dissatisfaction with the tough negotiations.

Riederer lost his post as Mautner in Schärding in 1443 or at the beginning of 1444, when the citizens of the city turned against Ludwig VII, who was now trapped in Neuburg . He worked for the duke until his death in 1447 and in 1445, as envoy of the Ingolstadt countryside , stood up for him again with King Friedrich. Riederer probably died shortly after his long-term employer, in March 1449 he was no longer alive.

Riederer's brother Michael initially also worked for Ludwig VII, but entered the service of Duke Heinrich XVI after the conquest of Neuburg by Ludwig VIII . of Bavaria-Landshut , whose chancellor he became in 1447.
