Sistine Amama
Sixtinus Amama (born October 13, 1593 in Franeker ; † November 9, 1639 ibid) was a Dutch Reformed theologian and orientalist .
Life
Sixtinus Amama was born on October 13, 1593 in Franeker, a town in the Dutch province of Friesland . He studied Oriental languages from 1610 at the University of Franeker and later at the University of Oxford . From 1614 he also studied the Arabic language at the university in Leiden . In 1616 he became professor of literature and oriental languages at Franeker University , but before that he was examined because he was suspected of Arianism .
