Skarø is a Danish island in the " Danish South Seas " south of Funen . The island belongs to the parish community ( Danish Sogn ) Drejø Sogn , which belonged to Harde Sunds Herred in what was then Svendborg Amt until the Danish municipal reform in 1970 , then to Svendborg Kommune in what was then Fyns Amt and, since the local reform on January 1, 2007, to the expanded Svendborg Kommune in the region of Syddanmark .

The island has an area of ​​1.97 km² and 30 residents (January 1, 2020). There is a ferry and marina on the north coast . There are ferry connections to the southwestern neighboring island of Drejø and to Svendborg on Fyn .

Skarø belongs to the Association of Danish Small Islands .
