The Skarsdalen ( Norwegian for Schartental ) is an icy valley in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It lies between the Rootshorga and Hamrane mountain ranges in the Sverdrupfjella . On the east side of Skarsdalen, the Dalsnatten rock outcrop rises up.
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939). Norwegian cartographers mapped the valley using aerial photographs taken by the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE, 1949–1952) and the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
