The mountain Skierffe (also spelled Skierfe ) is located in the Sarek National Park in the historic province of Lapland , Sweden , northwest of Jokkmokk . It is located about five kilometers west of the famous hiking trail Kungsleden , near the STF -Touriststation Aktse . The mountain is mostly visited for its view of the Rapaälv river landscape :

Rapa River Delta

The picture shows the view from the summit of Skierffe to the river landscape of the Rapaälv, 700 m below. Ice age glaciers formed the trough valley . The river comes from the Sarek National Park and flows below (left) into the Laitaure lake . The river arms take on very different colors in the different seasons and often change their course. Along the river arms you can see the typical gallery forests of mountain birch, in between moor and former dead ice areas , which are now filled with lakes. At the lower edge of the picture you can see boulders that came from rock falls from Skierffe. The lowest areas of the image are almost vertically under the rock face of the mountain. There is also a historical Sami sacrificial site there.
