Ski boarding school Oberstdorf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ski boarding school Oberstdorf is located in Oberstdorf at the foot of the Allgäu Alps . In 1980 it was initially the boarding school of the Federal Competence Center for Figure Skating , but later it was also opened for winter sports such as alpine skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined and cross-country skiing.

A tense financial situation and an impending closure led to the establishment of the “Skiinternat Oberstdorf GmbH” at the end of 2007 under the leadership of the German Ski Association together with the Markt Oberstdorf, the Bavarian and the Swabian Ski Association, which is now the director of the boarding school. The commitment of the federal professional association, state ski associations and the municipality in the form of an operator GmbH to ensure the maintenance of a boarding school for competitive sports is unique in Germany.

Currently (as of August 16, 2017) 36 athletes are permanently accommodated.

The aim of the ski boarding school Oberstdorf is to optimally combine school and competitive sport.

On December 28, 2008, the network of schools and competitive sports in Oberstdorf was awarded the title “ Elite School of Sports ” by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The central point of contact here is the Skiinternat Oberstdorf GmbH, which, in addition to providing accommodation and food, also acts as a link between school and competitive sports.
