Skip the Use is a French rock - band that sings in English and originally from Ronchin comes. The group was founded in 2008 and disbanded in 2016 before resurrecting with new members in 2018.

Band history

Mat bastard

First the members played in the punk band Carving before they changed their name to Skip the Use and had their self-titled album produced by the CALYSTA label. It was distributed by NPE. To promote the album, they performed at the Bourges Spring Festival, the Main Square Festival and Solidays in 2010 and 2011 , among others .

In February 2011 the band announced new live dates and shot a new music video for Give Me Your Life . After a two-month break, she released the EP Sound from the Shadow in digital form on her new label Polydor in September 2011 , in real format at the stalls of her concerts, it contains five more unreleased songs, including a cover of song 2 by the English band Blur . In January 2012 the group was nominated for Best Live Band at the Victoires de la Musique and also recorded their new single Ghost at Taratata with a children's choir. In February 2013 the group won the award for best rock album at the Victories of Music.

Her second album Can Be Late was released on February 6, 2012. A first edition contains the album alone, while the limited version contains a second CD with live recordings.

After a long tour in two years, Skip the Use released the album Little Armageddon on February 24, 2014 with the single Nameless World . The accompanying music video is in the form of an animated short film by Arthur de Pins .

The twelve tracks on the album were written and composed by Mat Bastard. Dimitri Tikovo and Adrian Bushby acted as producers . In February 2015 the album Little Armageddon was nominated for the Victories of Music 2015 in the category "Best Rock Album".

In April 2016, the band released the cover I Was Made for Lovin 'You , originally by the band Kiss, for the French team as part of the 2016 European Football Championship .

On November 11th, 2016, Mat Bastard announced the end of the band due to his solo career in an interview with La Voix du Nord . In 2017, Mat Bastard started a solo career with the first track More Than Friends .

In May 2018, in an interview with Ouest-France , Mat Bastard announced the collaboration with Yan Stefani on a new album. The band was re-formed with Mat Bastard (singer) and Yan Stefani (guitarist), supported by Enzo Gabert (drums) and Nelson Martins (bass). In September 2019 the music video for Damn Cool from the album Past & Future was released .
