Wertbühl , Swiss German Wärpel , is a village in the municipality of Bussnang in the Weinfelden district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . The Kirchdörflein is in the Thur valley on a hill southwest of Bürglen and was from 1803 to 1995 part of the local community Reuti .

history

The place was first mentioned in 894 as Wartpol . The pilgrimage church of St. Verena belonged to the cathedral chapter of Konstanz in 1155 and was later a fiefdom of the cathedral provost . After the Reformation in 1529, Wertbühl returned to the Catholic faith in 1534 under the influence of the judge Ulrich von Sax . The parish Wertbühl includes Hagenbuch , Istighofen , Mettlen , Reuti, Toos , Wartenwil and Wertbühl. The Reformed Churches visited neighboring churches.

Wertbühl was part of the Bürglen rule until 1798 and was subordinate to the Mettlen court. In addition to agriculture, the farmers did some viticulture and, from the 19th century, cattle and dairy farming. The settlement retained its rural character.
