The Skrap Skerries are a small group of islands and cliffs off the north coast of South Georgia . They are halfway between Cape George and Barff Point . The eastern part is formed by the East Skerry group, the western part by the West Skerry .
The name goes back to scientists from the British Discovery Investigations , who mapped it between 1926 and 1930, and is derived from the Norwegian skrapkær ( Norwegian for scratch scare ).
