The sculpture trail was developed in 2010 by representatives of the Enzkreis and the city of Maulbronn. The nationally known artists were selected by a committee headed by the art critic Günther Wirth , the district administrator of the Enz district Karl Röckinger , the former district administrator Heinz Reichert, the mayor of Maulbronn Andreas Felchle, the art historian Regina M. Fischer and other art and culture experts . The sculpture Maulbronn call them "approach" World Heritage Site Maulbronn Monastery , since the monastery since 1993 World Heritage Site of UNESCO is.
“The Cistercian Abbey of Maulbronn is considered to be the best preserved medieval monastery north of the Alps. It combines architectural and sculptural masterpieces from the Romanesque to the late Gothic. The sense of artistic quality is still alive in Maulbronn. A contemporary sculpture trail bears witness to this. "
As soon as visitors approach the monastery, the works of art can and should start a mental examination of the time of the Cistercians.
All works of art are financed from donations.
