Treetop Walk

The treetop path of the skywalk allgäu is a 540 meter long path at the height of the treetops. The visitor then walks at a height of 15 to 30 meters not only through the forest, but also along the edge of the forest. Due to the exposed location, close to the Austrian border, views over Lake Constance , Upper Swabia , the Western Allgäu and the Alps open up again and again . The treetop path can be reached via stairs or with the elevator of the 40 meter high observation tower . You can come down from the path via stairs, the elevator or over wobbly bridges with a tube slide.

technology

The treetop path of the skywalk allgäu is a technically impressive suspension bridge construction . 14 steel masts , 3000 m of steel cable and 70,000 screws hold the bridges and give them stability, so that only a slight sway is noticeable when walking. The very hard and weather-resistant wood of the Nordic larch was used for the path itself . It was a technical achievement here that, despite the demands on resilience and the large amount of steel, the treetop path winds its way through the forest in a filigree and natural way.

nature

A natural feature that needs to be preserved is the forest in and around the skywalk allgäu area. Through centuries of natural regeneration, without human intervention, a mixed forest typical of the Allgäu has emerged. The tree population consists of: 51% silver fir , 37% spruce , 7% beech , 3% sycamore maple , 2% larch , <1% summer linden , rowanberry , pendent birch , black poplar , English oak , common ash . This naturally created and balanced mixture can hardly be found in the Allgäu anymore due to the cultivation of the areas. That is why special care is taken when planting and compensating measures in the skywalk allgäu to preserve the natural population and diversity of regional plants.

Experiential education, group experience

A special area in the skywalk allgäu are the educational elements. The goals of experiential education are team building, strengthening the sense of togetherness and personality through group experiences in nature. These goals are achieved through actions on low rope elements, i.e. close to the ground or on more demanding high rope elements for athletes.

location

The skywalk allgäu is located near the Austrian border at 1000 m. ü. M. near Scheidegg in the Allgäu. The Prinzregent Luitpold specialist clinic can be reached on foot or by car below the skywalk allgäu. There are parking spaces for people with disabilities directly at the cash desk. Various footpaths lead from Scheidegg, Austria or the neighboring Pfänder to the skywalk allgäu.
