Slaughter to Prevail (also known as STP or Russian Hate Crew ) is a Russian deathcore band from Yekaterinburg that was founded in 2014 . They are currently under contract with Sumerian Records .

history

In 2014 Slaughter to Prevail released their debut EP Chapters of Misery . The band then received a contract offer from Sumerian Records , which they accepted. In 2016 a new edition of Chapters of Misery came out with a new cover and the bonus title As The Vulture Circles . On March 22, 2017, the single King came out, from the debut album Misery Sermon , which is to be released on May 5, 2017.

style

Slaughter to Prevail is known for their harshness and dark themes in the songs, with an emphasis on singer Shikolai's deep guttural vocals. Shikolai has mentioned that the band was influenced by other well-known deathcore bands such as Suicide Silence , Bring Me the Horizon and Carnifex . The band also frequently appears in full face masks.

Since most of the band's members are Russian, most of the songs are sung in Russian, with the occasional English lyrics. The band also includes members from the US and UK.

controversy

The website Indymedia claimed in an article on November 2, 2015 that frontman Alex Terrible was a neo-Nazi . Among other things, she made the following arguments:

  • He had a black sun tattooed on his elbow .
  • It showed a screenshot where he follows the Russian neo-Nazi hardcore band You Must Murder on Vk.com .
  • He is said to have shown himself in clothing by Thor Steinar and White Rex .
  • He is also said to have supported right-wing artists from Russia, such as B. Tony Raut and Gary Topor, and right-wing hooligan groups like Urals Fan Party.

The band then published a statement from Alex Terrible on their Facebook page. There it said among other things:

“I want to make clear that neither me nor the band and our crew support and / or tolerate any type of Nazism, racism or fascism. Love music, fight racism. "
