sleek magazine for art and fashion is an independent magazine for contemporary art , photography and fashion from Berlin and deals in a visual way with the formative creative currents of the present . An international selection of both young and established artists, photographers, fashion designers and illustrators contribute to each issue. The fashion spreads are produced exclusively for sleek and are created by some of the most famous photographers (e.g. Karl Lagerfeld , Jean-François Lepage , Melodie McDaniel , Terry Richardson , Luis Sanchis , Juergen Teller ).
Appearance and edition
The magazine appears quarterly , in English and on a monothematic basis, with each issue topic made up of opposing terms. It is sold in Germany and over 15 other countries, including Japan , Brazil and the USA . The circulation in the summer of 2010 was 32,500 copies.
history
sleek was founded in Hamburg in 2002 by Lothar Eckstein and moved to Berlin in 2005.
Awards
sleek has regularly received awards from the Art Director's Club and the Lead Award .
Projects
Since 2006 sleek has presented media art on Europe's largest LED display on the roof of the Axel Springer high-rise in Berlin as part of the “sleek public” project. International artists are invited to work on contributions to the unusual format of the display. So far have participated u. a. Jack Pierson , Takehito Koganezawa , Daniel Crooks , Beat Streuli , Christoph Keller, Alla Tkachuk .
