Sleeping Gods (dt. Sleeping Gods ) was a melodic death metal band from the north Hessian city of Kassel , Germany . Sleeping Gods released a total of three studio albums. Up to the second CD they experimented with female singing with classical instruments such as violin , flute and also the didgeridoo .

history

The band Sleeping Gods was founded in May 1993 in Kassel . The band name was an idea of ​​the singer Rene Clobes, who left the band early. Tim Siebrecht took over the vocals. Lars Pristl, Markus Stephan, Anja Henning and Carsten Franke completed the cast. In February 1994, they released their debut demo, The Die Is Cast . It was published in a limited edition of 500 copies. With the demo in their luggage came the first concerts in Germany and a tour through Poland in November 1994.

In February 1995 the debut CD Above and Beyond was recorded in Andy Classen's Stage One Studio and released in June 1995 through self-financing. Through the CD and a tour with the English band Esoteric , the name Sleeping Gods quickly became better known and attracted the attention of the label AFM Records, founded in 1993 from Schwalmstadt in North Hesse . From February 1996 the CD was distributed via AFM Records. The edition was limited to 1,000 CDs and was no longer reprinted.

In September 1996 the successor CD Regenerated was recorded in Andy Classen's Stage One Studio and released in February 1997 by AFM Records. Many concerts in Germany and the Netherlands followed. In January 1998 the song Dead Calls appeared on the CD Regenerated on a promotional sampler from AFM Records with a circulation of 25,000 copies.

The third CD New Sensation followed in 2000 . Sleeping Gods changed the studio and in June 1999 booked the Spiderhouse studio from Harris Johns , who u. a. worked with Sodom , Kreator , Sepultura . Even before the album was released, the song Away was released on an AFM promo sampler in September 1999 . January 17, 2000 was the worldwide release date of the CD New Sensation by AFM Records.

After various concerts, etc. a. a tour support of the My Dying Bride / The Gathering tour in February 2000, the band separated in early 2004. The last concert of the Sleeping Gods took place in August 2003.
