The Smith Lake is a 1.5 km long lake on the Knox Coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . In the Bunger Hills , it occupies the eastern half of a peninsula between the Booth and Countess Peninsula .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used for initial mapping. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the peninsula on which the lake is located as Smith Ridge in 1956 . However, this designation was later discarded. The lake is named after Kenneth R. Smith, who was part of the crew of a seaplane of the United States Navy , with the help of which said aerial photos were taken in February 1947.
