Snamyanka (Ukrainian Знам'янка ; Russian Знаменка / Snamenka ) is a village in southern Ukraine , about 14 kilometers west of the Rajon capital Ivanivka and about 68 kilometers north of the Oblast capital Odessa at the confluence of the Serednyj Kujalnyk in the Malyj Kujalnyk .
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1804 and was called Katarschine (Катаржине) or Russian Katarschino until the end of 1929 , then Staline (Сталіне) or Russian Stalino until 1965 .
The village was founded as a colony of Bulgarian settlers who emigrated from Turkish-occupied Bulgaria on the land of landowner Katarzy. The first stone church was built in 1816, later the place became the center of the Volost of the same name .
In the 1920s, Qatar became one of the places of the Bulgarian National Rajon Blahojewe (until 1926 Nationalrajon Velykyj Bujalyk ), in 1929 it was renamed Staline. In 1965 the place was renamed Chervonosnamjanka , on July 14, 2016, as part of the decommunization in Ukraine, it was renamed to its current name Znamyanka .
