Career
The Sneed Family consisted of Don Sneed and his three sons Leslie Sneed, Danny Sneed and Don Sneed, Jr. The Sneeds began performing professionally as a group in 1952. At first they were limited to their hometown of Spanaway , Washington , but were also known in the whole of Washington, Oregon and British Columbia by 1954 . The Sneed Family also performed at the Ranch Inn in Elko , Nevada , at 3-D's in Great Falls , Montana , and at the Cowboy Bar in Jackson , Wyoming . Radio and TV appearances (KTNT, KMO, KHQ) were also part of the group's regular program.
At times the band was also expanded to include Ronnie Allen, who later played in Buck Owens ' Buckaroos . The Sneeds were later joined by another guitarist and a singer.
In 1959, the Sneed Family switched from country to rock'n'roll. During this time, recordings were also made for the Cascade label from Spokane, Washington. Their first rock'n'roll single was Oh, Baby Doll from 1959. In addition to other records for Cascade, the two common songs Columbus Stockade Blues / He Taught Me to Yodel with Jackie Johnson were recorded.
Danny Sneed moved to Phoenix , Arizona with his wife in 1974 . Leslie became a pastor and now lives in Branson, Missouri. All three brothers are still active as musicians today.
Oh Baby Doll is the only song to date that has been re-released by the Sneed Family.
