So (also Fo, Shwo and Sso) is a Bantu language and is spoken by around 9,000 people in Cameroon (1992 census).
It is widespread in Nyong-et-Mfoumou district in Center province and sporadically in Haut-Nyong district in Est province .

So is a Northwest Bantu language and belongs to the Makaa-Njem group , which is classified as Guthrie Zone A80.
It has the dialects Melan So and Emvane So. Melan So is influenced by the languages Beti , Ewondo and Bulu .
