Sobral Pichorro is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Fornos de Algodres . It has 209 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
history
The Romans left u. a. a bridge and parts of a Roman road . The first records of the current place, under its original name Soveral , date from the 13th century.
Culture and sights
Its monuments include the old police station of the National Republican Guard , the historic community oven, the olive oil press mill which Roman finds (bridge and road section), the manor house Solar dos Beltrões (with chapel) and various religious buildings , including the baroque church Igreja Paroquial de Sobral Pichorro (also Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Graça ).
A project of ecologically alternative forms of living is being tackled on site by the British.
