The Socata TBM 700 is an aircraft model series from the French manufacturer Socata . They are single-engine business jets that are powered by a turboprop engine and have a pressurized cabin .
development
The TBM 700 was developed by Socata in cooperation with the American manufacturer Mooney , Mooney later withdrew from the program. The first flight took place on July 14, 1988. The TBM 700 essentially consists of conventional materials with only a small proportion of fiber composite materials . It was developed as a high-performance turboprop aircraft and offers a size and flight performance comparable to that of twin-engine turboprop aircraft, for example the Beechcraft King Air series. By eliminating a motor, the acquisition and operating costs are lower.
use
Around 100 of the basic model TBM 700 , which is the fastest in the series, were built. The following models TBM700a , TBM700b , TBM700c , TBM700c2 became more and more luxurious and therefore heavier. The fact that this was noticeable in the flight performance did not damage the reputation of the TBM. At the TBM, the weather radar on the left wing is noticeable, which enables the pilot to monitor the current weather situation ahead in the direction of flight. Another characteristic feature are the two large exhaust pipes that are located on the left and right behind the propeller .
A further development is the Socata TBM 850 with the same cell and more powerful drive. There is also a freight version called the TBM 700C . On September 19, the 800th machine from the TBM turboprop series, which has been in production since 1990, was delivered.
Competitive models are, for example, the Piper Meridian and the Pilatus PC-12 .
