The Therefore Kodiak 100 (formerly Quest Kodiak) is a single-engine STOL - multi-purpose aircraft of the French aircraft manufacturer therefore . It will be built in Sandpoint , Idaho , United States .

development

The Kodiak was specially developed as a work aircraft for developing countries. It is accordingly inexpensive and robust. The Kodiak is able to take off and land from extremely short and unprepared runways. Some US aid organizations participated in the development and contributed to the development costs. These organizations are currently Kodiak's main customers. The aircraft are equipped with air conditioning and, due to the service ceiling, with an oxygen system for the crew and passengers.

In June 2019 the company Quest Aircraft was taken over by the French aircraft manufacturer Hence Airplane , which also produces the single-engine series of the Socata TBM 900 turboprop aircraft .

commitment

It is planned to use the Kodiak in various humanitarian missions . Some machines are already in use. Two Kodiaks from the Mission Aviation Fellowship supported the relief mission after the earthquake in Haiti at the end of January 2010 . The Kodiak is also used as a dropping plane for parachutists .

In Germany, the former company Privateways used a Quest Kodiak under the name Yourways in island flights from Cuxhaven , St. Peter-Ording and Wilhelmshaven to some East Frisian islands and to Sylt .

There are currently three versions of the Beim Kodiak 100 available:

  • the tundra with dense seating for nine passengers
  • the Timberline with an extended range
  • the Summit with an eight-seat VIP interior
  • a variant with floats

Air Claw: since 2013, the manufacturer has been offering the machine in cooperation with Northrop Grumman as a low-cost ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) platform for civil and military users. In this variant, a multi-sensor platform is mounted under the fuselage, which contains CCTV, thermal imaging and electronic reconnaissance components. I.a. the systems "Hawkeye" (Persistent Surveillance Systems) and Star SAFIRE 380-HD (FLIR) are used. In terms of application, the model could complement competing products (U-28A from Lockheed Martin / Porter Pilatus PC-12 and Beechcraft MC-12V) downwards.
