Sofia Hvenfelt (born April 23, 1996 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish handball player who belongs to the squad of the Swedish national team.

Career

Sofia Hvenfelt began playing handball at Nödinge SK, where she initially played on the left wing position . Hvenfelt switched to Önnereds HK in the A-youth , where she was retrained to become a circuit runner. After Hvenfelt played with the women's team from Önnereds in the Elitserien , she switched to league competitor H 65 Höör in 2016 . With Höör she won the Swedish championship in 2017 and was in the final of the EHF Challenge Cup in the 2016/17 season . For the 2020/21 season she will move to the Danish first division club København Håndbold .

Hvenfelt played for the Swedish youth and junior national team. With these teams she won the gold medal at the U-17 European Championship in 2013 , the bronze medal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games and the bronze medal at the U-19 European Championship in 2015 . On March 21, 2018, she made her debut for the Swedish national team.

Others

Her mother Liselotte Hvenfelt won the Swedish handball championship with IK Sävehof in 1993. Her father Thomas Hvenfelt (born Thomas Andersson ) won the Swedish championship several times with the IFK Göteborg soccer team in the 1990s .
