Sofie Engelke

Sofie Engelke (also Sophie Engelke) (born July 17, 1927 in Frankfurt am Main , † December 17, 2000 in Königstein im Taunus ) was a German actress.

Life

Her parents were the glazier Heinrich Jakob Engelke and his wife Anna Maria Margarete, née Krieglstein (1901–1955). Engelke trained at the drama school of Robert George (1879-1953) in Frankfurt am Main. She then worked in Mainz , Darmstadt , Munich , Wiesbaden and at the Berliner Volksbühne . She often worked as a radio speaker , often for the Hessischer Rundfunk , such as in the radio plays Die Brieftasch (1961) and Der Glasschrank (1964). Between 1954 and 1956 she played in four movies about the Hesselbach family in the role of Waltraud Schulz. Sophie Engelke was married to the dramaturge, radio and television author Günther Swars (* 1923).
