Sofijiwka ( Ukrainian Софіївка ; Russian Софиевка Sofijewka, German formerly Sofiental ) is a village with about 540 inhabitants (as of 2001) in the southwest of Ukraine , which was founded in 1863 by order of Countess Sofia Demidow by German settlers from the communities Großliebental , Alexanderhilf and Neuburg in the then administrative district Kherson was founded on the Dnieper River , across the Bessarabian border river Dniester .
