Sofja Melikjan

Sofja Melikjan ( Armenian Սոֆյա Մելիքյան * February 11, 1978 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian pianist.

life and work

Melikjan graduated with honors from the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid with Joaquin Soriano and began postgraduate studies at the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Ramzi Yassa , where she received the Diploma Superieure d'Execution in 2003. At the Manhattan School of Music in New York she received a Master of Music from Solomon Mikowsky . Other pianists who have taken care of her are Brigitte Engerer and Galina Eguiazarova . She took part in master classes with musicians such as Vitali Margulis , John O'Connor , Fanny Solter , François-Rene Duchable , Piotr Paleczny , Menahem Pressler and Horacio Gutierrez . She has appeared as a soloist with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra , the Radio and TV Symphony Orchestra of Spain, the Cordoba Symphony Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, the Valencia Symphony Orchestra, the New Europe Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra Andalucía. She has given concerts at Carnegie Hall , Lincoln Center, the American Liszt Society in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington , the Guangzhou Opera House in China , the Bulgarian Concert Hall in Sofia , the Auditorium of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and at the "Chopin +" festival in Luxembourg , as well as debuts with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba in Havana, the North Shore Symphony Orchestra in Chicago and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in the USA. She also played many live recordings for radio and television broadcasts in Europe and the USA.
