The Sohan ( Urdu دریائے سواں) is a left tributary of the Indus in Pakistan .
The Sohan rises near Patriata in the western foothills of the Himalayas , 40 km east-northeast of Islamabad . The river flows through the northwest of the Punjab Province . In the upper reaches it is dammed up by the Simly dam . The Sohan flows south-westerly past Rawalpindi and gradually turns towards the west-southwest. Finally he reaches the Indus. The Sohan has a length of about 250 km.
