Oleg Alexandrovich Erofeev

Oleg Alexandrowitsch Jerofejew ( Russian Олег Александрович Ерофеев ; born July 10, 1940 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky ) is a Russian admiral a. D. He was the commander of the Northern Fleet from 1992 to 1999 .

Life

After attending the Leningrad Naval War School of the Border Troops from 1957 to 1961, Erofejew graduated from the Caspian Red Banner Officers' College of the Naval Forces SM Kirov in 1961. He then served in the Naval War Fleet until 1963 as commander of the navigation group on the submarine S-14 and from 1963 to 1965 as the commander of the electron navigation group on the submarine K-50 . For the next three years he commanded the combat section for navigation (GA-1) on submarine K-14 of the Northern Fleet. After completing higher officer courses, he became first officer of the submarine K-116 in 1969 and of the submarine K-14 from 1969 to 1971 . From 1971 to 1974 he was in command of the submarine K-451 . He then attended from 1974 to 1976 the Ushakov Naval War Academy , which he graduated with honors. From 1976 to 1980 he was chief of staff of the 25th submarine division and from 1980 to 1982 its commander. From 1982 to 1985 Erofejew was used as chief of staff of the 2nd submarine flotilla of the Pacific Fleet . Under his responsibility, the nuclear submarine K-429 crashed and sank on June 23, 1983 , which he ordered to shoot torpedo despite the need for repairs and insufficient crew strength.

After graduating from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR "KJ Voroshilov" from 1985 to 1987 with a gold medal, he commanded the 1st nuclear submarine flotilla of the Northern Fleet. He was later accused of being responsible for one of the worst accidents in naval history, the accident involving the K-278 , which sank in the Northern European Sea in 1989. During his tenure as Chief of Staff of the Northern Fleet from 1990 to 1992, he was promoted to Vice Admiral on February 7, 1991. Subsequently, on 7 July 1992 promoted to Admiral, Jerofejew commanded the northern fleet from March 12, 1992 to January 26, 1999. He was retired in January 1999 after a criminal case against him for "abuse of power in connection with damage to the Northern Fleet amounting to more than 69 million rubles".

The Science Candidate (1990) is married with one daughter.
