Socrates Giapapas
Socrates Giapapas (born April 13, 1937 in Athens , Greece ) is a German-Greek entrepreneur who became known primarily for his diverse activities in southern Brandenburg .
Life and career
After completing his military service in Greece, Socrates Giapapas began studying at the Technical University of Berlin , which he completed in 1966 with a degree in mechanical engineering and process engineering. In 1970 he returned to Greece. After working for various companies, he took over the management of the new location in the middle of 1996 when the Franconian Rohrwerke branch was established in Schwarzheide . Since 1999 he has also been the technical manager of the Königsberg drainage area in Bavaria and the Bückeburg plant in Lower Saxony. In 2000 Giapapas initiated the establishment of a plastics competence center in Schwarzheide.
On April 28, 2004 he was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Schwarzheide. In the same year his activity as site manager for the Franconian pipe works ended. He remained with the company for another year as a management consultant.
From 2005 he took over the management of the Center for Development, Innovation and Technology (ZEIT GmbH) and has been President of the Center since 2006. In cooperation with BASF Schwarzheide , he promoted the network integration of business and education as well as other activities, in particular at the Emil-Fischer-Gymnasium and the Justus-von-Liebig-Oberschule in the city of Schwarzheide. Giapapas is also active on the advisory board of the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences , as a donor and founder of municipal associations and in the employment pact “ALTERnatives in der Lausitz” and as “Ambassador 50plus”.
Works
Privately created poems have been published as anthologies, including: Festival Portoheli (Verlag Daidalos, 1992), Gone with the Wind (Verlag Daidalos, 1993), Earth Dreams (Etaireia Grafikon Texnon ABEL, 2001) and Dreams from Portoheli (Typografeio Diatton, May 2008). His short story Always in Motion was published in 2012 by the megalomaniac publishing house in Frankfurt am Main as part of the anthology Bewegt .
