Solano County Green Valley AVA (recognized December 29, 1982) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area is located in the coastal administrative area of Solano County . The area defined as the Green Valley is approximately 1.6 km × 6.4 km in size. The Protected Designation of Origin area is northeast of San Pablo Bay and southeast of the Napa Valley AVA wine region . The cool breezes from the nearby bay and often cool fog create a microclimate similar to that of the nearby Los Carneros AVA and Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley AVAthat differ significantly from the hot climates of the regions further north of the Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley .
