The Soletta 750 is a concept vehicle presented in 1956 and manufactured in Switzerland .
description
The engineering firm for vehicle construction, Solothurn under the direction of Willi Salzmann began in 1955 in Solothurn with studies for a new type of wheel suspension system for vehicles. When the development was completed, a complete vehicle with this patented elastic rear axle was developed and exhibited at the 1956 Geneva Motor Show . It was a two-door, four-seater small car . The body was manufactured by Carrosserie Hess in Bellach . For the efficient production of the plastic body, which sat with its tubular steel frame on a platform frame, the doors on the right and left, the front and tailgate and diagonally opposite fenders were the same. The driver's door was hinged on the B-pillar and the passenger door on the A-pillar. The air-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine with 748 cm³ displacement and 22 HP (16 kW) output at 4200 rpm came from the Condor works . It was located under the back seat and drove the rear wheels via a three-speed gearbox. The engine and rear axle formed a drive train swing arm, alternating compression made possible rubber-sprung pendulum half - axles . The front wheels were individually suspended from double wishbones . The vehicle had a total length of 3000 mm with a wheelbase of 2000 mm.
The Soletta has been preserved and was on view in a special exhibition in Wangen an der Aare in 2009 . In May 2012 the vehicle was exhibited in the Pantheon Basel in Muttenz .
