The Solhøgdene ( Norwegian for sun heights ) are a mountain range in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . They are located 1.5 km east of the Mentzelberg and tower over the northern flank of the Asimutbreen in the eastern part of the Otto von Gruber Mountains in the Wohlthat massif .
They were discovered and mapped using aerial photographs by participants in the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping based on further aerial photographs and measurements as well as the naming took place during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956-1960).
