Heinz Grunwald

Heinz Grunwald (born July 26, 1950 in Munich ) is a German administrative lawyer and former district president of Lower Bavaria .

Life

Heinz Grunwald grew up in Munich and attended the Ludwigsgymnasium there before studying law and economics at the Ludwig Maximilians University from 1970 to 1975 , followed by a three-year legal traineeship at the Munich Higher Regional Court .

In 1978 he began as a consultant for civil servants and disciplinary law at various Bavarian authorities and worked in the “ Constitution and State Administration” and “Housing” departments. In 1983 he went to the Starnberg District Office in the field of public security and municipal law, in 1987 to the municipal supervision of the government of Upper Bavaria and in 1991 to the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior . In 1993 he became head of the “Immigration and Asylum Law ” department, and in 1997 he was a project manager on behalf of the EU for return assistance in Bosnia . In 1998 there was another transfer to the Ministry of the Interior of the Free State as head of the department for speeches and political issues, internal security and immigration and in 1998 to the Bavarian State Chancellery as head of division for the Ministry of the Interior.

In 2001 Grunwald became Vice President of the Government of Middle Franconia , and in May 2007 finally President of the Government of Lower Bavaria. He retired at the end of November 30, 2016, after his term of office had been extended by one year in 2015 due to the influx of asylum seekers, among other things.

He is married and has two children.
