Solsona is a town in the Comarca of Solsonès in Catalonia , Spain. It is the capital of the Comarca Solsonès. The urban area has an area of around 18 km² with 9,094 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019).
During the reign of King Philip II, the community received its town charter and, at his request, was made a bishopric by Pope Clement VIII in 1593 . The medieval town center with cathedral and diocesan museum are the most important sights of the city today.
The urban area borders in the north on the municipality of Lladurs and otherwise on the municipality of Olius .
